Mauro Bianucci was born to a middle class “bohemian” family in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Both his mother and father were practising psychologists like many Argentineans of their generation. His sister was to follow in their footsteps but his brother would go on to become a pianist while Mauro’s dream was to try his hand in the design world. It was his childhood spent playing in the family garden with his siblings drawing, creating models and enjoying the natural landscapes where he first developed his love for raw natural materials and harnessed his creative dexterity.
Needing a bag for his personal use, Mauro took some industrial felt that was lying around from another project, cut out a pattern and fastened it using aluminium washers and rivets; he then added a leather handle with a spring link. The first Carga Messenger bag was born. “Getting the most out of limited resources is a very Argentinean approach to design. I believe that particular quality transpires in the Carga range,” Says Mauro.
Carga (which means “load or to carry” in Spanish) is an alternative Argentinean bag brand which has fused sleek, contemporary, architectural design with unique materials to deliver a wearable yet stylish product. CARGA’s architectural design style is heavily influenced by construction techniques using fabrics, leather & hardware parts. No visible branding can be seen apart from a steel disc embossed with a unique serial number. Each bag is constructed out of either leather or industrial felt secured by aluminium rivets.
