Modern tailoring is back and relaxed elegance is the new leitmotif for Leopold. Recent winners of the 2008 Australian Fashion Awards for Best Menswear Designer, Leopold’s classic dark colour palette is here again with the Autumn Winter range drawing inspiration from Shanghai in the 1940s. The sombre colour palette of black, charcoal and navy was inspired by Chinese ink, calligraphy and black lacquer, but contrasted with the vivid colours of Asian art - peacock blue, imperial purple, and Chinese red.
Upmarket looks and fabrics are rediscovered. Tailor-styled, sharply contoured suits emphasise Leopold’s masculine figure. Suits are figure-hugging, with clearly defined shoulders and come in single button, double-breasted and the classic tuxedo. Oversized coats and knitwear combined with slim, sharp suits create a beautiful contrasting silhouette for Leopold this season.
The mood is characterized by individual pieces, such as cropped leather bombers , peacoats, shearling jackets, and leather trenchcoats, supplemented with beaded knitwear, tuxedo style shirting and slim cut denim. All clothes are made of extremely luxurious fabrics with careful deliberate construction, making Leopold’s Winter collection one of the finest ever.
