In the mid twenties, Noel Coward used closing "Godspeed, the well-dressed man" in a written correspondance with Dorothy Parker. In 1937, chanteuse Robin Bontecou sang a song inspired by the letter entitled, "God Damn, You Well-Dressed Man". It's mix of bawdy lyrics and her siren's call made it a hit in Paris and was recorded live in 1938 during Bontecou's only known New York concert.
