Leopold Getting ready for Summer 2009

Leopold08001

Melbourne-based menswear label coveted for its refreshing blend of the traditional with the contemporary. The brainchild of Shandor Gancs and Boyd Parry, Leopold has quickly established itself at the forefront of Australian menswear. The elegant style defines itself in luxurious fabrics, unexpected details, fine tailoring and bold colors.

Leopold08002

Colored and sporty garments set the tone for the Leopold man this season, combined with vintage details from the 70s. Choosing geometric cotton knits, hooded sweatshirts or v-neck sweaters brightened with summer colors like cobolt blue and firey red. The Leopold boys have designed a new easywear look for Summer - mixing formal and sportswear looks. Loose cotton cardigans, waffle knit sweaters, metallic jackets, sports shorts, tailored shirting, dark denim and tuxedo jackets all work seamlessly - a new relaxed elegance. The color palette includes grey tones (from silver to charcoal), black, navy and cobolt blue with highlights of metallic black and Leopold's signature red.

Redux tailored workwear
by Stefano Guerrini

Reux001

Launched in 2007 and at its second collection, Redux is not only a complete project of all-organic denim, but also a style concept, deliberately made up of exclusive limited pieces for men only. Meltin’Pot Redux is inspired by the aesthetic philosophy of the Bauhaus artistic movement and borrows from it the elements of style innovation, materials design and the structure of clothing.

Redux002

The keywords of the collection are: ‘perfect fit’, which is the result of extensive research on tailoring, and ‘modern classic’. In fact the essence of Redux is the five pocket slim-leg work chinos, made of vegetable dyed organic material, in the light blue, unwashed blue and soft black denim versions, accompanied by overalls, a vest and a buttoned jacket, cut, lined and finished like a custom made garment. Designed and produced in Italy, distributed through the Meltin’Pot showrooms in Milan, Paris and New York, Redux is the tailored workwear for a modern gentleman, like the ones you can admire in these pictures shot by Rankin.

"The Thing" - fall winter 08 / 09 collection

Thething

For the fall/winter 2008-2009 collection for Rozalb de Mura, designer Olah Gyarfas wrapped himself in the mystery and austerity conveyed by the sheer blackness of an all black lot. In a conscious gesture, all pieces have been immersed in a black viscous liquid, and then brought to surface bearing the lobe-like traces due to the solidification process.

Over-layering leads to a frenzy of numerous strata. Organic excess is glorified yet immediately hidden under the black camouflage. At a closer look, Rozalb de Mura collection reveals a rejoicing profusion of details, curved cuts, hidden pockets, two-in-ones, false folds and other secret traits that sometimes only the wearer can really appreciate. The detachable lapels of a black contemporary smocking come folded like the bellows of an accordion. You can wear them all, one or just a few. A feminine coat encapsulates three different coats layered one over the other, like big black heavy petals. Rounded seams mark the puffed-up polyamide jackets. The stark lack of color allows a timid sparkle only in the alternation of mated and slick blacks, from wool tweeds to fur-like cashmere and back to lacquered cotton and various shiny polyamides.
