Reebok has announced that the company is not going to renew the contract with tennis superstar Andy Roddick who had been a brand ambassador for the past five years. Roddick’s departure as a Reebok endorsed athlete is amicable, though no reason was given except that it was a business decision.
But there is already another contract for the star with Lacoste. Lacoste whose history reads like the annals of tennis itself has signed a 5-year partnership with the #4 seed at INDESIT ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) for the ongoing 2005 race. Known for his charismatic personal style and armed with a 140mph serve, the young athlete has engaged a new generation of tennis fans and reenergized a sport that was looking for a new icon. lacoste may be more expensive and elegant brand, but it just looks tacky on the hottest tennis player around.

Lacoste *IS* tennis. It is the most historic and elegant sportswear brand in the world and has been in business since 1933. Whilst I am British, I can't stand Reebok. It is a brand worn by the British version of trailer trash....we call them "Chavs". Chavs have tried to hijack Lacoste too, but if you wear Lacoste correctly, you can distance yourself from the trash. Andy has done well moving over to the super cool French icon that is Lacoste. Long live the Crocodile (it's not an 'alligator', you uncoothed yankees!) :)
