More than Fashion

She says her father went to Vietnam and "came home a nut. And he abused my mother. He abused us through my mother. And she abused us because my father abused her."

B RUDE by Boy George

Boy George, singer, songwriter, DJ, actor, author, photographer, launches his new line “B-Rude”.
“B-Rude” examines new perspectives on human identity and explores our limits which have been set forth by the fashion industry. Questioning the roles in which we all play a part of.

While living in New York last year. George began making customizing pieces for himself and some of his friends. One by one they would come over to be a part of the creation. As each piece was being created he personalized witty slogans and elements to tailor to their personalities. Outlandish designs covered with cocks and roaches for some, butterflies and crosses for others. Each piece he hand made right in his apartment. Teaching himself to silk-screen the designs, applying heat transfers, hand dye and appliqué.

Even though there are three labels nothing is meant to be viewed as separate. “Rude”, “Really Rude”, and “Rude Core” are ultimately all interconnected. Each piece will slightly vary. Some of the themes will include “Fashion Weak”, “Communications”, “Celebrity Stalker”, “Bugs”.

iPod Photo

And when we all thought that it could not get better, Apple did it again, by introducing iPod With Color Screen For Pictures. It's said that iPod Photo can hold up to 25,000 images or 15,000 songs. It comes in 40 GB and 60 GB versions (battery can run for up to 15 hours).

Apple also launched Thursday a European Union version of its iTunes Music Store to serv Austria, Belgium, Finaland, Greece, Italy, Luxeumbourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Residents of those countries can purchase most songs for €0.99.

After Karl Lagerfeld's collection for the Swedish string Hennes & Mauritz, Jean Paul Gaultier is also prepared to present its version of "accessible" fashion. It should be avalable in stores in January of 2005. The new trend is really a reavolution in fashion indystry. "We're in a new consumer phenomenon: mass-tige." J. Mendel designer Gilles Mendel agrees. "To popularize that sense of couture, to make high design available at a low price point, is very much the mentality of European people. That someone like Karl is doing this just brings a bigger audience to high fashion, and that's a great thing."

Best Model nomination

24-year-old Will Chalker is the first man to be nominated for the Best Model title at the British Fashion Awards that will be held at the V&A in London on November 2.
